|Definition||Close call parlays allow players to collect a modified payout even if one or more predictions are incorrect.|
|Odds||Depends on parlay size. Depends on each bet’s odds of winning. Depends on number of incorrect parlay predictions allowed.|
|Sportsbooks||Most USA Sportsbooks|
|Example||5 Team Close Call Parlay. Player correctly predicts 4 of 5 events. Bet still wins because sportsbook allows 1 incorrect prediction.|
Have you ever come oh-so-close to winning a parlay, perhaps missing an astronomical payout by just one prediction? Have you ever bet a 5 team parlay and got 4 of the 5 predictions correct? At most sportsbooks this is a "close but no cigar" situation. Remember, every prediction of a parlay must win. That’s why winning a multi-team parlay rewards successful bettors with enormous payouts.

Let’s introduce you to the Close Call Parlay. Many sportsbooks offer these special parlays as promotions to their regular customers. Suppore you bet a 6 team parlay but only get 5 of 6 predictions correct. No problem, you’ll win a smaller payout according to the sportsbook’s close call parlay card.
Before you start making all sorts of risky parlay bets, remember these wagers come with special terms and conditions. For example, most sportsbooks require a 4 team parlay or greater. A 2 team parlay which misses by one correct prediction will not payout. In addition, sometimes sportsbooks will limit close call parlays to more risky wagers. Sportsbooks will offer close call parlays to players who took on high risk. In other words, parlays which the player was likely to lose from the beginning.
The following is a sample close call parlay payout card:
- 8 of 9 pays 4-1. A $50 losing parlay returns $200.
- 7 of 8 pays 3-1. A $50 losing parlay returns $150.
- 6 of 7 pays 2-1. A $50 losing parlay returns $100.
- 5 of 6 pays 1-1. A $50 losing parlay returns $50.
Terms and Conditions: Only available on football and basketball 1st half, 2nd half and full game wagers against the spread and totals. Money lines and proposition bets are excluded. Parlays with pushes not eligible for this promo. Original stake is not refunded. This parlay will not be automatically paid out by our system. You must claim your winnings within 48 hours from when the parlay is graded. To claim your winnings, contact our Customer Service Department. Maximum payout $200. The sportsbook reserves the right to refuse this promotion to anyone at any time. If your account shows a lifetime profit (Deposits withdrawals account balance = any negative number), you will not be eligible for this promotion. Only those accounts that currently have a positive lifetime number are eligible for this promotion.
As you can see, close call parlay bets come with several restrictions, the most important one being limited qualifying prediction types. Also, under the example sportsbook’s rules above, you would have to email the sportsbook and request your close call parlay win. The sportsbook’s software will NOT automatically credit your account with close call parlay winnings. Finally, sharp bettiors are excluded altogether. The last thing a sportsbook wants to promote is an easy win for the wiseguys.
Treat close call parlays like regular parlays: long shot bets that are meant for fun, not for profit. Always remember your sportsbook’s terms and conditions, making sure that you are eligible to win a close call parlay before you bet. Above all, make sure you check the sportsbook’s odds before making any sort of parlay. In cases where odds are ignored, you might doom yourself to a losing bet before the game starts.
